Moving is hard work...

So, I used to think I enjoy moving...well, I don't think I enjoy it as much as I thought... Well, I actually enjoy the ACTUAL move, the relocating to a new place getting used to new surroundings and the possibilities there...what I DON'T like is the PACKING!!! Trying to pack things logically so it is easy to find in the new place. This time it is even more tricky as we are putting most things into storage...well, I am only putting a few things of MINE into storage...I have around 8-10 ring binders with patterns of all sorts, and they are going into storage together with about 75% of my books. It is only for 6months, so I'll live... Some things it is hard to decide on storing or taking with you...things that you don't know if you will have use of as soon as you don't have them any more...you know what I mean, don't you:) I have so far packed about 75% of my things, I have emptied drawers and the wardrobe in my room, I have emptied the under-stairs-cupboar...

What do you think? Planning to make it into a needle book I think...or possibly a purse...but needle book is what it is likely to be:) What do you think I should finish it as?

Little progress

So, I found myself stitching like a possessed woman yesterday...hubby had done the dog walking and all I had to do was dinner...he decided on what we were gonna watch whilst I stitched and stitched... And, just look at Tara chewing her carrot...quite amazing how she holds it between her paws...slightly upset that I won't let her out to eat her carrot as it is raining and miserable outside... She can be so adorable sometimes...a bit on the stubborn side though...but I am more stubborn:)

Finished work this week...

So, I did my last day at my last job on Wednesday. Got some gorgeous flower bouquets, some nice smelly toiletries, lovely good bye cards and a few hugs. So, the rest of the week I have been potting about quite literally...yesterday I cleaned almost half of the pots we have for the garden (well, I guess we can use some of the pots in the house as well), and today I have cleaned the house...had to as we had two viewings just after 4pm...after the viewings I waited for the traffic to calm after rush hour, and then I went and got dinner from MackyD's...yes I know I should avoid them and other fatty foods like the plague, but I have been dripping with sweat most of the day because of the heat and the cleaning of house...sorry for the frank explanation...lol So, if we get a delivery of boxes this weekend we can start packing, if not, I am going to start going through things and make lists...if the weather is ok I will finish cleaning the pots and organize stuff from the shed, ...

Latest finish

So, it took some time, but I have finally finished another little design:) I know where it is going once I have made it into something (not sure what yet) and I hope they will like it:) I love watermelon (get heartburn from all other melons unfortunately) and when I was slicing one up for dessert yesterday, I looked at the "shell" and was amazed at what I saw...see if you can see what I saw:) On other news, we have found and booked a moving and storage company, and are SOOOO relieved!!! Having that sorted, and a moving date, makes it such a relief. I know there will be hard work, but once we've done the move, we are ok for 6months until the next move, which will be easier...at least that move will be a much shorter distance, and we will have most things already packed and ready and will only need to be moved from storage to the new house. It will be better for the pets as well. The drive from Preston to Gill's Bay where the ferry leaves from is calculated at 7ho...

Planning a move

It is not easy relocating...and to do it twice in one year is not fun. We have received two quotes for the relocation and storage of our "stuff", and the difference between the two is A LOT!!! almost two grand...the top end quote is twice what we can claim for from the hospital. Unfortunately that quote comes from the company we wanted to go with... It is 22days til the move, and we have not booked the movers yet, and it is getting me stressed out!!! It is hard enough figuring out how to relocate the pets in the least stressful way we can, and to figure out what to bring to Orkney and what to pack away for 6months. This weekend I will be trying to get some boxes so I can start packing up my room...I really need to think hard about what to bring...how much I am likely to be doing over the next 6months...but if I only bring some items, I am likely to need the things I have put in storage...so, most likely I will bring all my crafty stuff so that I don't have to be in that...

playing around

So, I am trying to get into cardmaking at this moment... I also got a GORGEOUS watermelon on Friday night, and yesterday I sliced up almost a half one and enjoyed:) I did a few bits of stamping and some coloring in, and once I've put some of it on a card, I will  show it:) Apart from that I am anxiously awaiting the move to Orkney. Just reading about the place, the nature and peace and quiet makes me really eager to get there. Of all the places we have lived, this will be the most exciting: I did love Plymouth. Having the waterfront 10minute walk away, and Dartmoor less than 20minutes away...there are so many beautiful places in this country.
