cardmaking trials

Well, I have been doing a bit of cardmaking practicing...feeling a little bit better, but am realising how many things I need if I am gonna do proper cards the way I want to...I need more cardstock to start with...I need more colors of ink pads...I need more greetings to add on...but this is what I've come up with so far:) The last one is the one I need to put a greeting on, but then I do not know who I am sending it to so I don't know what kind of greeting I need...lol And, below you can see my playing with pens and chalk... I am quite pleased, especially with the butterflies:) I am gonna have to do them again as the cutting I did with scissors made them uneven and I did not even put them in a straight line...but they are pretty:) I have so many stamps I have not even used...and I got this backing sticky business that was supposed to be sooo good to use with stamps, putting them at the back of the stamp, and it was supposed to be sticky so you can put them on a roc...

latest finish

So...I finished the picture for the nurse I work for. She asked me to do it for her, and so I did. Here it is... Quite pretty. Made of wool on pretty much plastic canvas...NOT my favorite thing to work with or on...but I finished it for her...and I still have the pattern and remaining wool as she offered it to me (she said she would just throw it away otherwise) in case I have use for it...we'll see...there is enough wool to do another whole picture, so who knows... I will add a picture of the card I made when I can find it in my mess...lol

nothing much to say...

apart from that we are closer to have a mover/storage company sorted. Once that is done and we know how much it is gonna cost, we can plan everything else we need to do during July...like having the car fixed (not essential, but would be good to have done it before the long drive to Orkney, not to mention we have a VERY good offer on having what needs to be done done), going to the dentist (we have managed to get an NHS dentist, and want to go before we are moving as we don't know how long it'll be before we have an NHS dentist again), go to Paris for a weekend to see Sabeel's sister before we move. And, that is only a few of the things we need to do... Other than that I have not done any stitching for a while...I got my cardmaking stuff out yesterday, and did some stamping and painting...I made a card for a friend. I really need to get a proper permanent ink pad...only have cheap pads that are just not good enough for a "professional" look...i used chalks wit...

piccies

So, here is the latest tiny finish, and one WIP... See, I am not normally much for pink, but these two designs both have it, and they look really nice:) The WIP has variegated perle threads I got on Ebay...ok, so they are cheap, but as long as I only use shorter lengths, it is not a problem. The frame and capital letters have quite a strong pink, and I thought I'd do the other letters with a pale do darker purple, but that did not work it seems, as the color is too similar. I am not frogging though, so I will just have to be happy with it:) I like the grey/black in the centre of the triangles. It is a nice contrast. After finishing it, I am gonna have to go decide how to finish them off... On another note, I just had to add a picture of my dear dog. This is her favourite thing to do when we are out walking... Just look at how she uses her paws and claws to hold the ball...she is adorable:) A bit of a challenge to walk her though as she keeps wanting to stop to lie down and...

2 pounds down

Ok, so it is not the best result, but it sure beats gaining... I have been working on some smaller projects, and am halfway done with the third one in just over a week:) Should have done cleaning, sewing and stuff, but I just find it hard sometimes. If I am upstairs with the door to the garden open, it gets cold upstairs and the pets (all three) come up to be with me. If I am downstairs with the door open, it again gets cold, and Darwin goes out now and then whilst Pearl and Tara keep coming and going to check I am still here... If I am in my room I will have Pearl right by my left foot...which means as soon as I move she will complain that I am disturbing her...and of course Darwin tends to sleep under my desk, which means that if I am working by my desk I will disturb him with my feet... I just can't win...lol...if I were to close the door to my room, I would have Pearl throwing herself at the door, clawing at it and meowing in order to get in...she is VERY determined... ...

Stitching

So...did some housework, spoke to hubby who is doing alright. Well, he is doing a lot of eating...he is going from one relative to the next eating his way through the family (so to speak)...I was sitting here working on a folksy bird when my cat decided that the pattern is the perfect place to sleep, so she is now curled up on top of the pattern, and the other cat is on the next seat curled up. It is strange to see them so close together as they really only tolerates eachother...Darwin just stretched and almost got Pearl's ears:) If I get up now, I can guarantee at least one of them will jump and the peace is gone...but I have to go to bed...I am really tired... And, tomorrow is my weigh in, and I have no hope whatsoever that I have lost...more than anything I am expecting to have gained for teh third week in a row... Wish me luck...

Off he goes...

Ok, so off he goes towards the hot sunny homeland of Sri Lanka, to spend 5days with his mum and other relatives. He spoke with his mum yesterday, and she was giving him a run down of the "schedule" when he gets there...he is pretty much gonna go from one of his relatives to another, eating his way through the days. I admit, he was nervous about seing his mum, asking if he should wear a suit when he goes...I said that she would not care if he wears a suit or a jute sack, all she cares about is that he is gonna spend time with her:) So, here I am, having been out with the dog for a 90minute walk, watching CSI and potting about the computer. I am gonna try to make somewhat of a schedule for myself, so that I don't just waste my time...and to make sure I eat proper meals and not just silly quick snacks...starting tonight. I have taken salmon out and am gonna do salmon and noodles:) I won't be working on finishing the little project today, but am gonna work on the Mono...

Sri Lanka

Heloo World, I am both happy and not so happy...my husband is going to Sri Lanka on Sunday for a week...he is going to see his mum for the first time in 23years! I am really happy for him:) I wish I could have gone with him, but there is just not enough money and time. We are moving to Orkney in July, he is going to Sri Lanka, he is working more hours than what's good for him, I am unable to go home this summer because of all this...we need to sort something out in the car before we move, we need to put some things in storage as we are renting a part furnished property on Orkney. Then in February we are moving again, this time to Inverness, Beauley or somewhere in between...but then we will stay for 2 1/2 years which is nice. After that hubby is FINISHED with his training so he can apply for a permanent job. Once he has a job we can get a "forever" home...I cannot wait to have a home where I can work in the garden, put a proper craft room together...perhaps in an outb...
