storm still raging

So...not easy to sleep last night as the wind was howling through the chimney in the bedroom. Got up this morning and took some pictures, as the tide was high and it is the first time I have seen waves spraying over the road in between the loch and the sea down from us. Not the best pictures, but they do show some spray and waves, and they also show how wet the road was. Now the tide is going out so it is not as bad. Hubby is just getting ready to give Tara a quick walk. She has been having a rest (unwanted) this weekend because of the weather...  I know the windows are a bit grotty, but you can see how wet the road is and how high up the water is.    Just see how the waves come up to the road and lashes over. I have never seen it coming that high up before. I am glad we are at home and not trying to go anywhere in this weather...apart from possibly the shop here in the village. Hubby needs potatoes so I may brave the weather only for that... I am at the...

My hot dog is finished...lol

Ok, it is a needle roll and not a hot dog, but it is soooo slim as I did not read the instructions properly...lol I still like it...it is really pretty:) And I have to end with a pic of Tara with her head squashed up against hubby's foot as he is cuddling up to me watching Ice Road Truckers...lol. She needs to be with us...

Stormy weather

Orkney in November

Ok, so no WIP picture update this time, but I thought I'd share some Orkney and pet pictures instead:)  So...this is the normal look I get from Tara when she wants attention...shoving her face in my line of vision...with a miserable look in her eyes...how sad can you look...  And, this is when she is the happiest...lying outside chewing on a ball...her idea of the perfect life...  Now...the above is my attempt at showing you how muddy she was after she fell backwards into a ditch!!! She was soo eager to get the ball that she was not looking where she was going, she took one step too many backwards, and her backend went straight down into the mud...and I am talking the ditch is a proper deep muddy ditch connecting the loch to the pipe draining the loch overflow into the sea. She looked sooo surprised it made me laugh...until I saw how muddy she was. Her bottom half plus tail were DARK BROWN/GREY from mud...I was clever enough to take the lead which is extendab...

WIP update - finally...

Ok, so I can't show how I am doing with my model stitching, but I can post pics of my other WIPS...  you can see in an earlier post how the cactuses will look when they are finished. I am not sure I will include the figures or just leave it as the cactuses, but that will be for later to decide:) I am quite pleased with the color choice. It is not what the pattern called for, but I am happy. I thought I had enough beads for the corners as well, but I think I am out 2-3 beads, so I will probably use white beads for them instead. I have a few bits to finish off and then I can finish it into a needleroll...which I have never done before, so that will probably take a bit of time:) I have probably one or two days left on the first model, and then I will take a break for a day or two and get some other things done before I start on the second piece...I have some finished pix that I want to make into Christmas pressies... Other than that I am trying to move as much as possibly up...

Model stitching again...

So, my designer friend sent me two kits to model stitch for her, which is so much fun:) It also means though that I will not be able to show any progress pictures at all, and I can't show a pic of the finished piece until it has been published. I will do a little bit of stitching on my cactuses in between though, and I want to finish my needle roll, so it should not be too boring on the blog I hope....:) Not to mention my normal picture updates of pets and Orkney:)

Almost over...

So, my tooth saga is almost over... I went to the second dentist yesterday...told him how things had progressed over the weekend, and that I was sure the pain was coming from one particular tooth. He said "well, then we'll do our best to sort it out", he put anesthetic and asked me to wait for 10 minutes outside. I went back in and said it was pretty much numb, but moving the tooth forward and outwards still hurt, so he put a bit more which made it completely numb. Then he removed the filling, drilled a little bit, said "hmmmm", got a longer drill bit and as soon as he started with it a really bad smell came out...he asked if I could smell it, and I said I hope it is the drill and not the tooth...but I was wrong. It turns out that there was a little hole underneath the filling that had caused bacteria to seep down to the pulp, slowly killing it...it had even gone down into the jawbone irritating it. So, he drilled almost to the tip of the root, put medication ...

Toothache is no fun...

So...over the last few weeks I've had increasing toothache on my bottom right side. It has been affecting the two back teeth (I have no wisdom teeth). I went to the dentist on Friday to have it checked out, thinking one of the teeth would be pulled...the dentist took an X-ray of the teeth, which showed them both having equal size fillings, none of them had any other problems. He did pressure, heat and cold tests to check for any damage, infection or cracks...and found nothing conclusive. It did not hurt putting pressure on the tooth, I could chew without any problems. We had a talk, and decided on a second opinion on Monday as we don't want to do anything unnecessary. He told me to see if I could figure out over the weekend which tooth is the problem, and I think I have...the second tooth from the back is now painful to touch. I was walking Tara in town while hubby had his driving lesson, and I could feel the pulse pounding in the tooth...if I try to move the tooth it hurts, wh...

Seals here in Burray

Ok, the pictures are not the best, and quite similar, but this is all I have at the moment...I will see if I can share a video... Yey...I managed...it is just a seal (could be two) playing and splashing about:) - not the best quality, but I think you'll see what it is:) do maximise it though...otherwise you won't see much...lol
