A not so happy New Year

I have not really done any stitching for weeks now, which is not really strange as Darwin has been really ill. Unfortunately we had to put him to sleep, which we did on Wednesday, 28th February. He died at 3.30pm, and we are devastated.

It will be sad to start the New Year without our podgy baby, but as he got so very sick so very quickly, there was nothing we could have done sooner or differently. It was his time, and we have to think that he has gone to a better place.

Hubby is doing dinner at the moment, and he came in to me crying as he was chopping meat and that would normally bring Darwin to his feet begging for treats. I have sat sometimes and suddenly just started crying...it is really difficult. We are fortunate that we have baby Pearl and Tara to comfort us. At the moment I have Pearl on my right cuddling...she is adamant to have me stroke her neck, so she looks at me or pushes my hand to make sure she gets her way...Tara is lying beneath the sofa, having finally given up on trying to get me to continue playing with the infrared spot light...she LOVES chasing the red spot...lol

Me and hubby have spent the last 3 days watching 24 series 8. The biggest problem with 24 is that once we start is that we do not want to stop...last night we stopped at 2am...and only because I refused to start another episode...hubby had already persuaded me to start an extra three episodes after we had agreed to stop and go to bed...lol...we have watched most of the day today, and after dinner we are likely to finish the last three episodes...

I was planning on doing my organizing of craft stuff today, but that will have to wait until tomorrow or next week when hubby starts working again...he has a way of changing my plans for the days that he is at home:)

I am hoping to have a list of the ornaments I am going to work on for the year, as well as any other projects I am hoping to work on or even finish...who knows...lol

Leaving you with two pics from one of the few times I managed to get all three babies on the bed together...normally Pearls runs away as she does not like Tara...and see how miserable Tara looks...she is worried Pearl is gonna attack her...and Darwin just slept...not much bothered him:)

  1. Ylva, so sorry to hear about your loss. I am so glad that you and your DH have each other and the other fur-babis in your life. It is always easier to share sorrow. Was this loss recent? You wrote that he was put to sleep on Feb 28th, but i assume that you meant Dec 28th?

I am wishing a wonderful 2012 for you and your family! Take care and Happy Stitching once you get back to the groove.

  2. Yes, it was December 28th. I must have been sidetracked when typing...

Thank you for your sympathy. I am having an "easier" time than hubby. He asked me the other day how long it will take before his heart will stop hurting. It is hard watching him cry so hard when he sees a picture or think of Darwin. I know it will get better, but he has never had to go through this before so it is really hard for him.

Refreshing my blog (long time coming)...

Hi, I haven't posted here for a very long time. Towards the end of the last period of blogging I completely lost track of my craftiness and there was just too much going on in life. Now I am finally feeling like myself again, I have started a web shop on Etsy and have started selling my jewellery from a shop in town. I have not yet been brave enough to do a craft fair, but I have my eyes on one in October and then it is a matter of doing some Christmas fairs to get my name out there. Below you can see some of the things I have made, and I will be posting my finished items whatever they may be both on Instagram, Facebook and here, planning on going a bit more in depth here for whoever wants to know more:) So, here we go:) This was a commission, made up of peacock colour freshwater cultured pearl nuggets and silver-plated copper stardust beads and findings. It consists of a ring, ear studs, bracelet and necklace. The lady who ordered it absolutely loves it:) Below are so...

New Year, New Home, New Outlook!

Ok, so I have been very bad with writing on my blog...I am slightly ashamed... I do however have a reason for it...This last year went pear shaped, and I lost myself a bit. Firstly in March, my husband failed his final exam for the first time, causing a lot of stress and worry. Secondly, we lost our gorgeous baby girl Tara, our almost 12 year old GSD...she was in too much pain in her back and back legs, she was dragging her back feet as she had no strength to lift them to walk properly on her pads. This caused her to wear down her claws so much that she was bleeding on one occasion. After this occasion we made sure to walk her only on the side of the road so she could drag her feet on grass instead of asphalt. At the end of April 2014, we sent her across the Rainbow Bridge, to join her friend Darwin whom we lost in December 2012. After this awful event, things were quite tough at home, and as if that was not enough, my husband still had to study and practice for his final exam. He ha...

Slimming World update!

I AM SOOOOOOO HAPPY!!! I lost 6 1/2 pounds, which means I have reached my 1st stone milestone:) I am so surprised but happy...I have gained 1/2pound three weeks in a row because my period was 3weeks late. Now my period has come and gone, and it just shows how much my body is affected by the f***king period...  (and those stars are hiding REA and nothing else...lol) So, tonight it is Nando's dinner...chicken, coleslaw and ratatouille (or perhaps some lovely chips) to celebrate weightloss as well as payday...I do normally let myself enjoy a nice treat of some sorts after my weigh in...that way it is easier to stay on track the rest of the time...:) I am getting on with my Siamese cats, and am about halfway through with the white, and once that is done I am finished and can make them into a cushion cover:)
