Holy cow what weather...

So, just as I thought it could not get worse...it did...

Last night hubby got home just before 6pm, and started on dinner. about 6.20pm I was in the livingroom, the door to the kitchen was closed and hubby had the window open for ventilation...all of a sudden the wind started howling through the chimney and the kitchen door opened...the wind came from nowhere and was so strong it was scary. We heard what sounded like the kitchen roof shaking and rattling, but there was no sign of anything loose, and today there was still nothing wrong. We have seen pictures of so many effects of the storm from around Orkney and around Scotland. Unbelievable...

Hubby had to take the bus to work this morning as I did not want to risk getting stuck for hours on the other side of the barriers if they were closed at high tide as I would have had to drive home exactly at high tide...heard afterwards that the barriers had been open, but I still felt glad I stayed home. With my luck they would have closed...

Now we are sitting watching news with the radiator on full blast, the gas fire on full blast and I still have my knitted cardigan on...there is a breeze coming from the upstairs...right down towards the sofa...I have checked upstairs and cannot find a specific leak...

Don't really have any bad pix to show as I was not out in the storm, but I can show pix from this morning...out with Tara...just check her fur...lol

    Glad you are all safe after that gale! Heard that somewhere in Scotland a wind trubine was actually blown over, so you didn't do too badly! Here in Essex we don't seem to get such high winds although freak tides often mean that Mersea Island (near us) gets cut off by higher than normal tides!

    sounds like a nice place to live...I have no problems with winter weather and a storm now and then, but the wind we had Thursday to Friday was scary...the good thing is that they are not used to it...that should mean it is not normally so bad...lol...seems to be windy most of the time though...

    Lol, yeah, the roof is still on...my landlord texted me this morning to ask me to close the shed door...it blew open in the storm, but as it is away from the house in amongst the bushes (the garden is given back to nature according to him) I did not see it...I did close it and that was pretty much the worst that happened to us. Our neighbour had their greenhouse smashed though...just the wall against the wall of the house left...it was really bad. I was fortunate I did not have to go anywhere in it. I know people who had to drive through the weather, and it was NOT fun...it is the worst weather Orkney has seen in over 30 years...and of course that happens when we are here...lol...sometimes I think we bring the extreme weather. It was the same in Preston...they had not had snow that stayed for over 15 years according to the craft guild...until the winter that we moved up there...lol...

Refreshing my blog (long time coming)...

Hi, I haven't posted here for a very long time. Towards the end of the last period of blogging I completely lost track of my craftiness and there was just too much going on in life. Now I am finally feeling like myself again, I have started a web shop on Etsy and have started selling my jewellery from a shop in town. New Year, New Home, New Outlook!

Ok, so I have been very bad with writing on my blog...I am slightly ashamed... I do however have a reason for it...This last year went pear shaped, and I lost myself a bit. Firstly in March, my husband failed his final exam for the first time, causing a lot of stress and worry. Secondly, we lost our gorgeous baby girl Tara, our almost 12 year old GSD...she was in too much pain in her back and back legs, she was dragging her back feet as she had no strength to lift them to walk properly on her pads. This caused her to wear down her claws so much that she was bleeding on one occasion. After this occasion we made sure to walk her only on the side of the road so she could drag her feet on grass instead of asphalt. At the end of April 2014, we sent her across the Rainbow Bridge, to join her friend Darwin whom we lost in December 2012. Slimming World update!

I AM SOOOOOOO HAPPY!!! I lost 6 1/2 pounds, which means I have reached my 1st stone milestone:) I am so surprised but happy...I have gained 1/2pound three weeks in a row because my period was 3weeks late. Now my period has come and gone, and it just shows how much my body is affected by the f***king period...  (and those stars are hiding REA and nothing else...lol) So, tonight it is Nando's dinner...chicken, coleslaw and ratatouille (or perhaps some lovely chips) to celebrate weightloss as well as payday...I do normally let myself enjoy a nice treat of some sorts after my weigh in...that way it is easier to stay on track the rest of the time...:) I am getting on with my Siamese cats, and am about halfway through with the white, and once that is done I am finished and can make them into a cushion cover:)
