update on ornie challenge

I have got about halfway on my second ornie for the year. I picked my own colors, and apart from the frame color which is too close to the fabric color (which I colored myself with some yellow flowers:)) I am very pleased:) This is the original by Lizzie Kate...

We have a house!!!

So...hubby's difficult trip to Inverness was worth it...we got the property we wanted:) I AM SOO HAPPY!!! It has 3 bedrooms, one "summer house"/conservatory and a garage...nice garden which is fenced in for the dog:) Apparently we get Pine Martens at night and there are also red squirrels...so Tara will be happy...she used to sit and stare at them for ages back in Plymouth...did not see many in Preston and here there are no squirrels... Most likely we are moving on the 1st February which will be a bit tricky as that is the same day that hubby starts his job. The logistics needs to be worked out now...but it is easier to do now that we have a property to move to:) Yey! :)

No more sunshine...only storms ahead it seems...

So...hubby supposed to go on the ferry 6.30 this morning from Stromness to Scrabster in order to get to Inverness in time to look at at least one property...got up 5.10 to have breakfast and get ready...went out to the car and started it...waited for hubby...he came out and told me to come back inside...the ferry was cancelled... So, I went in and back to bed...got up 8.30am to have a cuppa tea and see what's happening...hubby found that the next ferry from Stromness was at 1pm...that would mean that he would miss the bus to Inverness and have to wait until 6pm...he had checked the ferry from St Margaret's Hope...said he would miss the bus by 15minutes... I went in and double checked, and it turned out he had read it wrong, and as the ferry from St Margaret's Hope only takes an hour, he would make the bus (we thought)...so he cancelled his ticket and we went to the St Margaret's ferry...he got on it with no problems, journeyed over with no problems...got there and fou...

Sunshine

Nice with some sunshine after such a long period of wind and storm and rain...even though today is a bit chilly with frost having stayed throughout the day...:) (although my family back in Sweden have it a lot colder so I am not complaining...)

My first finish of the year:)

Took Tara out this morning, and gave her some carrot pieces to search for (NOT something she is good at...) and nibble on.  Now...the other day I was out with her in the rain in the afternoon...she did her business and as I was picking it up, I heard a noise. When I looked up, Tara was struggling to get up from the closest part of the overflow, trying to get up in the grass to the left. When she got up she was BROWN with mud...I was NOT happy...I tried to get her to get into the lake to wash off, but she is very easily scared, and as soon as I tried to gently force her in the water she squealed like a little piglet...I let the lead loose and she jumped away from the water. I thought that if I try to push her any more, people will think I am abusing her, so I went home and hosed her off instead...she is a bit heavy to get into the tub... This is the sad miserable face of my baby when she is waiting for me to give her the leftover of Pearls food... She can wait hou...

A bit of a slump...

I am not really sure what is up...most likely the move...but I am in a bit of a slump...I've got packing to do, chasing estate agents for properties and moving companies for removal of stuff...applying for jobs, starting to launder and pack bedding and clothes...regular tidying and hoovering...but I just do not have any umph in me to do anything... It can have to do with the move so soon after the other move (and not long after the one before that), it can have to do with it being very sad and really strange to be moving without Darwin...it can have to do with the weather...miserable and rainy all day...yesterday was ok with a bit of sun...but since early December until 2days ago it has been pretty much stormy all the time...from around 3pm until early morning most days...some days all morning, day and night... I have almost finished my first ornament of the year (the stitching bit, not the finishing off of it), so at least I am stitching a little...although today has NOT been ...

Finally stitching again

So...I have finally put together three little projects (Lizzie Kate Snippets) for me to work on up until the move. I will keep my cacti, TW Peacock Tapestry and the hardanger partwork available as they are nicely packed in my project box and there is not any point emptying it... I have slowly started packing the house up for the move, even though we have not yet found a place to rent. It is never easy to find houses that accept pets, and then some of the houses are too expensive. I know we will find a place, and our lovely landlord has been by today to check a little leak we've had because of the weather, and he reassured us that we are ok to stay a little longer if we are having trouble finding a house. We miss Darwin terribly, but it is getting easier to talk about him and his antics without crying. Right now Tara is knocked out on the floor, having given up trying to get my attention...Pearl is lying on my left leg...this is good as it means I can have the laptop on my r...
